Prep & Care
Start with clean, dry tools and gently shaped nails. Leave living cuticle skin intact.
Nails · Your at-home checklist
These are supplies and techniques to look for, not product recommendations or promises of an exact match.
Steps
- Start with clean, dry nails, following the preparation directions on your polish. Gently file the free edge to your preferred shape.
- Apply a thin base coat according to its label. Keep the product on the nail surface.
- Apply a thin layer of color, working from the center toward each side. Allow the label’s recommended drying time.
- Add a second thin coat if needed for even coverage. Tidy stray polish using your cleanup brush and suitable remover.
- Finish with a compatible top coat and allow enough time for all layers to dry before using your hands.
Tips
- Rest your painting hand on a table for more control.
- Two thin coats usually give you more control than one thick coat. Follow the product’s directions.
Before you begin
- Regular air-dry polish only. Follow product instructions and ventilation guidance; stop if irritation occurs.
- This is a simplified interpretation, not a guarantee of the reference finish or extensions.
Aftercare
Follow each product’s drying and removal directions. Avoid using nails as tools; use hand or cuticle products only as their labels direct.
